My first appointment with Dr Lawrence revealed that I would need an open Myomectomy ( fibroid surgery). The way Dr Lawrence broke the news was quite straightforward and to the point. I wasn’t left guessing about my condition or the solution that was presented to me.
My appointments after that were to get ready for my surgery. As I had pre existing conditions & developed conditions from the fibroids, I was put on meds to manage the conditions before surgery.
Dr Lawrence always explained anything you asked. She also explained the Game Plan of my surgery from start to finish. This made me feel confident before surgery and eager to prep well before surgery.
The day before surgery I met her amazing anaesthesiologist Roxy, and both took down vital information for my surgery as she normally does. However as someone who’s adopted with no knowledge of family history, learning about certain small things can help in a big way and I truly appreciate the time they took to learn little things about me that could’ve affected me during surgery if something went wrong.
The day of surgery, Dr Lawrence came in the the brightest personality and smile ever ( even at 5am). I was told the game plan again and once I chose my music to fall asleep with , off I went.
After surgery, I slept most of the day but Dr Lawrence checked in every so often. In the middle of night, because of another pre-existing condition I got a bit stressed, however once the nurse communicated this to Dr Lawrence, the decision to opt out of one of the post op routines, helped me sleep better and recovery quickly in terms of movement in and out of bed.
After surgery, I had a few appointments to check scarring and stitches. These were short and sweet. After my stitches were out, I had one last appointment until I was discharged.
From the first day to the last day, Dr Lawrence answered any questions. No question is stupid, just ask it. She makes you feel comfortable and wants you to be in control of whatever diagnosis or condition you are there for. Her attitude towards her work and care for her patients pre op is absolutely phenomenal and I’d recommend anyone to her, especially if they’ve had negative experiences in the past with Gynaecologists.
