Dr. Lauren Mais is a highly skilled Consultant Gastroenterologist and Internal Medicine Specialist with advanced training in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of digestive, liver, pancreatic, and gastrointestinal disorders. She is committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care and helping patients achieve optimal digestive health through personalized treatment plans and preventive care.
Dr. Mais began her medical training at The University of the West Indies (UWI), where she earned a Bachelor of Basic Medical Sciences with First Class Honours before completing her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with Honours. Her strong academic performance reflected an early commitment to excellence in medicine and patient care.
Following graduation, she completed her internship at Mandeville Regional Hospital, gaining valuable experience in the management of a broad range of medical and surgical conditions. She subsequently returned to Kingston to pursue specialist training and earned a Doctor of Medicine (DM) in Internal Medicine from The University of the West Indies. During this period, she developed extensive expertise in the diagnosis and management of complex adult medical conditions.
Driven by a passion for digestive health, Dr. Mais pursued subspecialty training in Gastroenterology at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, a globally recognized centre for medical education and research. There, she received advanced training in gastrointestinal diseases, liver disorders, endoscopic procedures, and colorectal cancer screening, working alongside leading experts in the field.
Dr. Mais combines academic excellence, international specialist training, and a patient-centred approach to provide comprehensive care for individuals with both common and complex gastrointestinal conditions.
